In 2018’s God of War, the Boat Captain’s ship somehow ended up in the Lake of the Nine in Midgard, which Kratos found via a treasure map; it mentioned the key that Kratos took from the captain and his subsequent death in the Hydra. A former princess in Fjöturlund, Sigrun experienced several tragedies that led to the loss of her family and her lover Helgi, which drove her to join the Valkyries as redemption. Sigrun – Acting Queen of the Valkyries in God of War (2018), she was only able to be summoned at the Council of the Valkyries once the other eight had been defeated and their helms placed on their respective thrones. In Ragnarök’s DLC Valhalla, Sigrun is present when Freya and the Valkyries confront Kratos and Mímir for entering Valhalla, though her relationship with Mímir had strained after he rejected her romantic advances. Sigrun is later penalized by Valhalla after saving Kratos and Mímir from a punishment, weakening her connection to the land, and this makes her re-evaluate her desires and she decides to step back from her duties to rediscover herself through traveling the world alone, but promises to eventually return to Mímir. She and Mímir became lovers, but they were separated after both Mímir and Sigrun became trapped by Odin.
Odin appointed her as the Valkyrie’s resident historian. After Odin cursed the Valkyries, Sigrun hid them throughout the realms before being freed by Mímir, Kratos, and Atreus. As respected and influential as musicians can be, King was not a “rock” guitarist so to speak, but you’d be hard pressed to find a musician on this list who wasn’t in some way impacted by the smooth, soulful “King of the Blues.” A man who could do more with one note than most musicians could do with a thousand, King was the anchor around which the blues community was rooted, and his absence will be sorely felt moving forward.
