In 1932, Indonesian workers established the Perkoempoelan Islam (Islamic Association), which was a self-help organization that lobbied for the establishment of a Muslim cemetery and a mosque in the Netherlands. The survey also found that people in predominantly Catholic countries-especially Italy (46 percent), Ireland (39 percent), and Portugal (36 percent)-tend to have higher levels of belief in a biblical God than those in historically Protestant countries.
