Generation z and the Future of Faith in America
Their reaction was to fall backwards in shock, stand up, yell “oh my god!” and then whip out their smart phones to record the incident. People have faith that Shri Krishna, a Hindu God had divulged this wisdom regarding the obligatory responsibilities of all humans for the benefit of Arjun, his dedicated companion. Though the term “Hinduism” and its variants was originally a foreign imposition during the British Raj in India, they have become widely used in the public realm to refer to forms of religiosity and spirituality that had their start in the Indus River valley at least since 2000 BCE and have endured with great internal diversification ever since. Jainism is an ancient religious tradition from India; per its practitioners Jainism is eternal, or at least older than Hinduism, but many historical estimates will place it contemporary with Buddhism as a Classical offshoot of old Vedic tradition. Like Buddhism, Jainism received varying degrees of support or opposition from powerful sponsors, and was in constant dialogue with India’s other religious traditions. The religion has no founder, and is a synthesis of many different Indian religious traditions. Sikhism originated in the Punjab area of the Indian subcontinent, near the end of the 15th century CE.
The religion waxed and waned in competition with Jainism and Buddhism throughout Indian history, before seeing a huge resurgence after the medieval period. Jainism is a transtheistic religion that believes that the universe always was and always will be, without a creator, governor, judge, or destroyer. The three main principles of Jainism are ahimsa (non-violence), anekantavada (non-absolutism), and aparigraha (asceticism). The two main teachings of Baha’i and the Baha’u’llah are the essential worth of all religions and the equality of all people. Buddhist beliefs are based on the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha, who lived in the 5th century CE. The Jain community enjoys a large profile, however, due to their high literacy rates and the esteem Mohandas Gandhi professed for Jain teachings and beliefs. Fifty-nine percent of Americans raised in Catholic households retain their religious identity into adulthood, the same retention rate as in 2014. Among Jewish Americans, rates of religious retention have fallen precipitously. Those who doubt that this condition is or can be met may, however, look towards a model of faith that understands faith’s cognitive content as playing some other role than that of an explanatory hypothesis of the same kind as a scientific explanatory hypothesis.

People worldwide practice many different religions and they practice them in very different ways.
