Conversely, other scholars of religious studies have argued that the discipline should reject the term “religion” altogether and cease trying to define it. Hinduism embraces many religious ideas. Most forms of Hinduism are henotheistic, which means they worship a single deity, known as “Brahman,” but still recognize other gods and goddesses. Hinduism is closely related to other Indian religions, including Buddhism, Sikhism and Jainism. Nick Fury seizes on that doubt in 2014’s Original Sin, telling Thor “Gorr was right” and rendering the god of thunder so disillusioned that he’s no longer able to lift Mjolnir. Given that Jane is battling cancer and risks her life every time she lifts Mjolnir and becomes a goddess, her selfless sacrifice may be the key to making Gorr see reason. Gorr enslaves numerous gods and forces them to build a doomsday weapon called the God-Bomb, one which would detonate across time and eliminate every god in one stroke. Knull has been waging war against the Celestials and other powerful cosmic beings since the Big Bang, seeking a return to a time when existence was nothing but an endless, black void. Their social roles correspond to those of a shaman in that, depending upon their classification, they serve as mediums, especially influential prayer and offering performers, healers/guardians, precognosticators/fortune-tellers/diviners, and sources of mediation both within the living community and between material and immaterial beings.

This philosophy holds that living creatures have a soul, and they’re all part of the supreme soul. Hindus revere all living creatures and consider the cow a sacred animal. Hindus value many sacred writings as opposed to one holy book. Ten years after his first comic book appearance, Gorr will make his MCU debut in Thor: Love and Thunder, played by none other than former Batman Christian Bale. The MCU version of All-Black actually resembles the Twilight Sword, a blade wielded by an X-Men villain known as Amenth. We also don’t know if Gorr’s origin story will be tied to Knull in the MCU. Even after his death, Gorr’s influence continues to be felt in the Marvel Universe. Given that we don’t even know if Knull is available for Marvel to use in the MCU, Gorr’s back-story may have been reworked to connect him to a different branch of Marvel lore. All-Black is the source of Gorr’s power in the comics. He creates a construct of his dead son Agar, who denounces his father’s cruelty and labels him “the god of hypocrisy.” Agar gives Thor the power to withstand the God-Bomb blast, and Thor uses the power of two Mjolnirs to end the threat of Gorr once and for all.

Only very recently has Thor regained his hammer and his self-confidence. That act paves the way for Jane Foster to inherit Mjolnir and become the new Thor. Instead, Gorr resurfaces in the present, forcing Thor to unite with his young, Viking Age self and an older Thor from the far future to battle an existential threat to all gods. One fundamental principle of the religion is the idea that people’s actions and thoughts directly determine their current life and future lives. And of course the current civil war in Yemen has become a sectarian proxy war, with Iran backing the Shia Houthi rebels who overthrew the country’s Sunni-dominated government, while a Saudi-led coalition has since intervened to reinstall the Sunni leadership. On the other hand, the verdict has been challenged by Tim Whitmarsh, who argues that Diagoras rejected the gods on the basis of the problem of evil, and this argument was in turn alluded to in Euripides’ fragmentary play Bellerophon. That quest eventually brings him to Earth during the Middle Ages, where he captures a young Thor and tortures him for information about the gods of Asgard.
