In the Context of the Quran
Bloom, Colin. “Does government ‘do God?’ An independent review into how government engages with faith” (PDF). Many scientists who accept evolution believe in God. Perhaps God decided to use evolution to create everything. Baiame, sky god and creator deity of southeastern Australia. Quran states that Mary remained “pure”, while God allowed a life to shape itself in Mary’s womb. Because blasting out a tweet takes 10 seconds while having an actual conversation might take hours and span days. At the same time though, I do think that having conversations means something very different than posting a reactionary tweet to comment on a piece of news. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever ’til the end of time! These gods worked together (most of the time) with the god who actually produced food, the god Chicomicoatl. To keep these Gods happy and turn people into good and caring human beings, different religions blossomed, all propagating selfless and righteous living. The god’s strict relationship with the cults of the Capitoline Hill and in particular with Jupiter are highlighted by the legends concerning the refusal of gods Iuventas and Terminus to leave their abode in the shrines on the Capitol when the temple of Jupiter was to be built.
And courageous Afghan soldiers are making tremendous sacrifices in the fight against the Taliban, and others, in the fight for their country. I think social media platforms, like Mastodon, are not designed to have conversations. I don’t have a no politics rule attached to my email address. Later generations of Japanese emperors claimed their divinity – and therefore their right to rule – by tracing their imperial lineage back to Amaterasu herself. In Bangkok, the country’s capital, you’ll see hip new bars and restaurants right next to long-standing temples. Most normal people see this comment and ask… Because if you dig deeper, people don’t want to have a conversation on social media. But God Bless Ozzy Osbourne goes much deeper than that, laying to rest the caricature of The Osbournes to present a newly wise, unfailingly droll, and most of all sober frontman, who have finally emerged from a 40-year bender to assess the wreckage of his past.
In the late 1800’s, there emerged a group of spiritualists and scammers called Theosophists, principally followers of the eccentric Helena Blavatsky. The correct answer is 18-59. On Ash Wednesday (and Good Friday as well), those in this age group are expected to fast. This New Age religion was a mishmash of perennialism and invented secret eastern teachings (which Blavatsky claimed to have learned in a fabricated part of her life in Tibet), with significant parallels with other universalist sects like Freemasonry. Just because biologists can not explain every detail of some organism or part or how or in what order it evolved does not mean that evolution is wrong. This random aside not just shows the attention to detail Leonardo gives what would otherwise be silly videos, but articulates something deeply troubling about a war unfolding over Bitcoin, Ethereum and other blockchain technology, but also technology generally. Can we explain every detail of how some city grew, or some war started, well after the fact ? Gradually the public authorities, royalty, the leagues between nobles (Landfrieden), and the communes followed the impulse and finally restricted war to international conflicts.
If there is a “public square” anymore, where we ought to be able to try to hash those things out, it seems to me that it’s in those “small social networks,” unless they’re intended to be bespoke bubbles where it’s all just happy talk and we never have difficult conversations. I don’t disagree that small communities are the space where those conversations can happen which is why I think no topic should be banned or be off limits. This is the perfect example of why I think social media is a flawed tool. Can you imagine reading a piece of news and start calling hundreds, potentially thousands of people simply to share what you think about some news? People of every religion and no religion have heard of St. Peter’s Basilica. You can have them on there, sure, but the experience is going to be sub-par. Years ago, during the COVID era, the 37signals company got into hot water online because they announced in an internal communication that they were going to ban “societal and political discussions” on their internal work chat. People online reacted in all sorts of ways to that news and many, many opinion pieces got published.
